With so much going on at Eastern Mediterranean University. Students feel the need to commit themselves to their different endeavors and the goal is to be at the best with going to classes, assignment, curricular and extra curricular activities. A common discourse among university students is short on academic points, while this may be true, many EMU students are also always short on something else: Time. How can you balance your time when there never seems to be enough of it?
Time management can be a common problem for any student and effective time management is a skill many students struggle to implement and utilize within their daily lives. Throw work, children and social activities in the mix and the web of daily responsibilities become even more intricately woven. Realistic time management and organization plans can improve productivity and the quality of life.
Managing Goals: Goals are important in our lives, without goals, we will aimlessly wander through life, haunted by the feeling of not fulfilling anything tangible. As a student of Eastern Mediterranean University, what is your goal? Highlighting what you aim to finally achieve will help you to manage time more.
Priorities: Learning to prioritize is also a good skill to complement managing tasks. Since time is very limited, it is vital we complete our priorities first before anything else. Misplacement of priorities is detrimental to success of all students so ask yourself always, what should i attend to in order of importance or urgency? Visiting a friend or going to library to read for my exam?
Procrastination Management: Everyone has a tendency to procrastinate and, for some, it is a feeling that is very difficult to resist. However, to efficiently manage time, we must learn to resist the calls of procrastination. You need to force yourself because if you don’t, no one will. If you need to go to class by 8:30, get out of bed earlier. Don’t stay in bed to watch funny videos till 8:15. The funny videos will always be on YouTube but your class will not always be there.
Implementing these three elements in our daily activities as students of Eastern Mediterranean University will help to curb the time management problems we continuously face.
