As we welcome and bask in the beauty of Spring, we also welcome the school’s 8th Futsal Tournament season which began today, 22nd March 2017. The Football Tournament is organized Annually by Eastern Mediterranean University’s Sports Directorate, and is held at the University’s Lala Mustafa Pasa Sports Complex.
The Opening ceremony for the Tournament was held at the Sports complex by 5:00 pm, the school’s Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, other administrative staff and EMU students were present to grace the event.
The teams were announced and 30 teams were set to compete against each other. The teams comprise of both male and female teams, with each team representing their country. Each of the teams are categorized into groups where they have to compete against themselves. Upon the completion of the group matches, the top two winning teams will again continue to compete for a spot in the semifinals. All winning teams from the groups will compete against each other for the final victory.
Group matches will last until the 5th of April while the Quarter and Semi-finals will both be played on the 6th of April. The Finals are scheduled for the 19th of April after the midterms and we anticipate the birth of greatness in this Football Tournament as all the players are determined to make history with their undeniable skills. We wish them a good game and we call for spectators to come support their various teams.
