EMU Students Plant Trees as Part of Social Responsibility Project

On Friday, April 27th 2018, a social responsibility project was carried out as part of the Senior Project of EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies by Public Relations and Advertising students at Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School.

The project carried out by the department’s students; Ezgi Yılmaz, Henry Ampey, Ruth Kalio, Micheal Osude, Arbat Micheal and Oluwabunmi Osanyinbi was supervised by Vice Chair of Public Relations and Advertising, Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut Ayman and organized with the support of the Gazimağusa Municipality Business Association. The project was designed to draw attention to the ever-decreasing oxygen rate in the ecosystem and to raise awareness on this issue.

The event themed “Let’s give life to the earth” commenced with an opening speech and informative conversation. Ezgi Yılmaz, one of the students of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, first explained to the children the importance of trees in the ecosystem and gave a speech about the purpose of the activity. She emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness and the pupils took part in this talk. They shared their knowledge, experiences and ideas as it concerns the discourse. At the end of event, the pupils showed great curiosity and enthusiasm. With the participation of the pupils’ and the consent of Famagusta Municipality, the school garden was cleaned and 21 trees were planted.
