We are at the end of the year 2019; a festive and holiday season when people all over the world are preparing for the forthcoming year, 2020. This season is associated with a period of sales, window displays, and ceremonies. It is also a season to show love to the less privileged and share with the needy. To join this special season of love, the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Eastern Mediterranean University, organized a fund-raising concert to donate for cancer patients and children with leukemia.
The “1 Donation Hope Solidarity Concert,” held at CL Square, was massively attended by staff and students of the Department and others within the university community. A number of student-artists and live band performers, including Dj Umit Akdeniz, Grup Otantik, Dilara Ferit, Passnote, Voice of Cyprus, Dj Bouncer, were invited to perform voluntarily at the concert.
In a bid to show love to these children especially in this season of love, food stands were set up at the event scene to sell various items such as kebab, corn, coffee and lots more. While proceeds from the sales will be donated to children with leukemia, other aids will go to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Develet Hastanesi Cocuk Onkoloji ve Hemotoloji Servisi (Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Public Hospital Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Service) and Kemal Saraçoğlu Losemili Cocuklar kanserle Savasma Vakfina (Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation for Fight Against Children with Leukemia and Cancer).
While expressing her joy over the success recorded at the event, the Chair of Public Relations and Advertising, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anil Kemal Kaya, told Gündem that the concert was organized to show love to the kids and everyone, as it is a time and season of love. “We are one family coming together to celebrate. It was indeed a memorable concert with many students who had lots of fun and made various donations to support the campaign.”
